Le Cas Lovecraft est un film d'une originalité assez sidérante: une sorte de monstre merveilleux surgi par surprise dans la calme bibliothèque d'Un Siècle d'écrivains. Il faut dire que ce sujet n'est pas n'importe qui : inventeur de mondes et de mythes qui ont fait, depuis les années 30, le bonheur horrifié de lecteurs toujours plus nombreux, H. P. Lovecraft est lui-même devenu un être de légende. Les contingences terrestres n'intéressaient pas ce pur wasp de Providence et la vie le dégoûtait : son oeuvre s'est construite contre la réalité, dans l'espace informe qu'ouvre la peur, derrière la porte de cauchemars clos. Comment alors montrer cette mythologie de l'innommable et donner à voir Dagon, le mystérieux Cthulhu ou l'improbable Necronomicon ? Patrick Mario Bernard et Pierre Trividic se sont posé la question et ont imaginé pour y répondre un formidable dispositif visuel, qui réinvente l'inquiétude à la télévision.

The Case Lovecraft is a film of an originality quite
striking: a kind of marvellous monster emerged by surprised in the calm library
of "Un Siècle d'écrivains". It should be said that its subject is not
just anybody: inventor of worlds and myths which made, since the Thirties, the
horrified happiness of increasingly more readers, H.P. Lovecraft is itself
become a legendary human being . The terrestrial contingencies did not interest
this pure wasp of Providence, and the life disgusted him: its work was built
against reality, in the formless space opened by the fear, behind the door of
closed nightmares. How then to show this mythology of the unspeakable and to
give to see Dagon, the mysterious Cthulhu or the improbable Necronomicon? Patrick
Mario Bernard and Pierre Trividic asked themselves the question and imagined to
answer it with a formidable visual device, which reinvents worries on
television
